The release date for the ground breaking Drupal 8 is getting closer. Time to talk about the possibilities and challenges of these new technologies. On May 1st, a large group of decision makers and enthousiasts met at the premises of Liip to find out more about Drupal 8, Platform.sh and Symphony.
It's time for Drupal 8.
After a brief welcome Apéro, Andrea Melck, Regional Manager DACH for Commerce Guys, started the presentation by giving an overview of the things to come.
Miro Dietiker started with an overview of the new requirements resulting form using Drupal 8. Miro made clear the importance of concentratiing on your key business comptencies while reassessing the new technologie in an unbiased fashion. Optimized hosting as well as the right tools for managing team workflows and depolyment management for Drupal 8 must be thought through carefully. In addition to that, he made clear that it is the right time start the implementation of real projects in D8. For more information, please refer to Drupal 8, ahead of its time.
The next presentation came from Tom Schneider. He talked about the relaunch of the news site for the 'Südostschweiz Medien' in Drupal 8, hosted on platform.sh. He illuminated the strategy behind the project as well as the implementation based on NP8, the turn-key base system for new sites based on Drupal 8.
Using Platform.sh
Robert Douglass, Director of Products at Commerce Guys, gave an overview of Platform.sh, focussing on real world use cases.
The last presentation came form our hosts' partner Lukas Kahwe Smith. He gave a live demonstration on how to use Platform.sh in combination with Symphony.
Intense discussions followed
The subjects presented resulted in very lively discussions in different smaller groups.
